After two full weeks of rotten weather in St. John's and Clarenville, Newfoundland, the sun finally made an appearance. The mercury didn't rise, but it dried up a little and there was evidence of blue sky. Oh my second last day of my visit, my sister Maggie and her boyfriend Ryan headed down to the South Side Road, overlooking the beautiful St. John's Harbour. With all of the activity arising from the busy crab fishery off to our side, and a line of truck drivers waiting to load their haul, we had a great time taking some scenic photos.
For the first time ever since I have been taking photos, a truck pulled up and asked me if I would like to be in the photo- so the three of us could be in a photo together. Because I was in photographer mode and not 'Sister visiting from away mode' I declined. Then I promptly realized what I had done and wished I had said yes!
When my toes were sufficiently cold from hanging out of my previously complained about sandals, we headed to the ever beautiful Bowring Park. I remember visiting this park when I was about 4 years old with my cousin Phillip. I know that he will be impressed to know that I have chosen to relay this story and apologize (and grovel if neccesary). We were playing at the park and being 4 and 5 years old at the time, we thought it was a good idea to use the edge of the duck pond as a race track. We had made it 1/4 way around the pond before my mother noticed and I heard 'Careful guys, don't fall....'
'SPLASH!' from Phillip
'OBSCENITIES!' from Dad.
I will never for get it, as long as I live. It is impossible to. The smell of poor soaking Phil as we drove back to his house covered in duck pond goodness is permanently burned into my nostrils.
Anyway...funny and possible family feud causing story told....these are the fun pictures of Maggie and Ryan from Sunday afternoon! I hope you like them as much as I do guys!
